Our Classes

Please be present at the studio at least ten minutes before class begins.

Choose your class attendance with the intention to stay for the entire session. Final savasana is an especially healing and integrative time for many, and as such, stillness and quiet are essential. To ensure a safe and quality experience for group practice, it is standard at our studios to stay on your mat until the teacher has signaled the end of class. Thank you for respecting your time on the mat and the dynamic power of a group practice.

Our featherston studio consistently maintains a temperature of 34°. Humidity fluctuates with the seasons. Our intention for our Lower Hutt studio is to maintain the heat at a cozy 30°. This may vary slightly above or below depending on the season.

Hot Yoga

Building on our roots in traditional heated practice, this foundational session remains a cornerstone of our studio’s history. The room is intentionally warmed to support mobility, promote natural detoxification, and allow for a deeper release within the body. With a focus on fresh air circulation and optimal humidity, you’ll move through a curated sequence of 25–30 postures designed to strengthen the musculoskeletal system and sharpen the mind-body connection. This total-body workout offers a balanced challenge that remains accessible and transformative for beginners, intermediate students, and advanced practitioners alike.

Yin

Yin yoga concentrates on floor postures that stretch the connective tissue, ligaments, and fascia that bind bone-to-bone at the joints. Connective tissue does not stretch like muscle and thus it takes more time to improve mobility and strength in these areas of the body. For this reason, the postures are held for longer periods of time (at least three minutes). Perfect for beginners, top-notch athletes, and seasoned practitioners alike.

Hot Sampler

This class is ideally suited to someone who is curious about the different styles of yoga offered at our studios and interested in developing a stronger foundation for their practice. You will experience a taste of the three major modalities we offer: Hot Yoga, Power Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. Every Sampler class begins with a short flow sequence, followed by standing postures, and finally, some delicious yin-styled floor stretching poses. Suitable for all levels.

Yin Yang

Needing to slow things down? This gentle style class is a creative combination of standing postures, juicy flows, and yin postures which brings together the elements of breath, movement, and stillness. This class is suitable for all levels and is highly recommended for our newest yogis!

Power Vinyasa (PV)

A vibrant, inspiring practice that leaves you glowing with that “yoga buzz.” Power Vinyasa is a fast-paced, flow-style class that hones the relationship between body and breath: A continuous rhythm of breath leads you through each posture and transitions between postures, and awakens and reconnects you to a stronger and stress-free self. Class instruction focuses on form, alignment, strength, fluidity, and balance. All levels are welcome!

Yin + Nidra

This restorative practice seamlessly blends the deep, passive stretching of Yin Yoga with the profound stillness of a guided Yoga Nidra meditation. As you settle into a supported Savasana, you will be guided into that blissful state of consciousness hovering between wakefulness and sleep—a powerful tool for deep relaxation and mental clarity. Often described as a regenerative reset for both body and mind, many find that a single session offers the restorative benefits of several hours of deep sleep. This calming experience is the perfect antidote to a busy life and is accessible to all levels of practitioners.

Teacher Trainees (TT's)

For over a decade, our Lower Hutt studio has proudly served as the home for New Zealand Yoga Collective’s teacher training programs, including both our 200-hour and 300-hour certifications. To support the next generation of instructors, we provide our trainees with the vital opportunity to integrate their skills in a live setting. When you see "TTs" on the timetable, it indicates that a select group of trainees will be leading segments of the practice under professional guidance. While our classes are typically led by a single senior teacher, these collaborative sessions are essential for providing the feedback and real-world experience needed to develop world-class educators. Thank you for being a part of their journey and our studio's 10-year legacy.

Fusion

A perfect marriage of strength and release, our Fusion class offers a balanced 50/50 split between standing foundational postures and grounding floor-based shapes. This practice integrates body, breath, and mind through a curated sequence of 25–30 postures designed to cultivate an overall sense of spaciousness and equilibrium. While it serves as an ideal entry point for beginners, it remains a favorite for any yogi seeking a well-rounded, intentional flow. Please note that Fusion is frequently a key part of our mentorship program; these sessions are often led by our Teacher Trainees (TTs), offering you a chance to support the next generation of instructors as they share this foundational sequence.

Restorative Yin Yang

Experience the perfect balance of gentle movement and deep relaxation in our Restorative Yin Yang class. This practice involves soft, flowing Yang poses to release tension and energise the body and calming Yin postures supported by blocks, bolsters, and blankets to promote rest and restoration. Ideal for all levels, this class nurtures both body and mind, leaving you feeling refreshed and renewed.
